My role at SnowflakeFilmsNYC was a short term contract role for the fall and winter of 2023. On this project I was a Design Assistant for the design team on the new reboot show: Wonder Pets in the City. During this project I assisted the design team with various tasks which included prop making, photography, compiling design lists, file prepping, website building and design and so much more. Another design team member and I worked together to create the Snowflakefilms website using elementor and Wordpress. If you’d like to visit the website please follow this link: Snowflake Films NYC. Below I have included some of the process that went into creating it. This was an incredible project and everything that came out of it was crafted with lots of care and love.

Website Design

The Overall Design

The design was to be playful, crafty, fun and look organic. All the assets were created beforehand in photoshop and then added to the site to be formatted. Each element that you see was was done this way. Below you can see the home page, for the homepage each floating element is separate from everything. We added everything manually and formatted it from scratch. This included the background, header, banners, and footer.

Bios

The page for the teams bios was one of the hardest pages we had to work on. We collected everyones photos and bios from the entire snowflake team to be featured on this page. I designed the template for each person placing their photo, name and title, and then importing that into wordpress alphabetically. Below is an my example of my bio preview. For the people that did not want a photo as part of their profile we decided to create snowmen as placeholders. Below is some of the snowmen that were created for this purpose.

Error 404

My Favorite page to create and design was the Error page. Everyone is familiar with the error page on website, and sometimes it is fun to see when an error page is also designed. For our error page we wanted to play with the company’s name snowflake and have fun with it. I created this snowman that is melting away through photo collage and manipulation. We also decided to add search bar that says “this page has melted away” as a play on the melter snowman error page. This is also the page that included the credits to the designers who worked on the website.

Conclusion

There is so much more that went into creating this website than what I am highlighting here. There was so much trial and error, iterations, scrapped ideas, hiccups, and even more trial and error. I learned so much working on this as I had never built a website from scratch before this and I am so grateful for the knowledge and experience that I now have for website building and design.
